Dr. Seuss’s Birthday is celebrated each year on March 2.  In preparation for this day, there is a reading contest for the 3rd and 4th graders at RHCDS.  Each class works to build a red and white striped hat (think The Cat in the Hat) by recording the number of pages they read each week for a month.  For every 400 pages read the class receives a stripe on their class hat. This year, the top class earned 37 stripes on their hat! That is over 14,800 pages!  The winning class got to celebrate Dr. Seuss Day with a birthday party in his honor, cupcakes for all!

All of the Lower School classes also enjoyed a visit from a guest reader on this day.  A specialty teacher, middle school teacher or administrator shared his or her favorite Dr. Seuss story with the students while wearing a red and white striped hat.

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!
